I’m Shae.
I’ve been making theatre for over 15 years, producing award-winning work that has toured across the UK and internationally, from the Wardrobe Theatre, Bristol Old Vic and Southbank Centre to Sydney Festival, SoHo Playhouse (NYC) and the Edinburgh Fringe. My work has been featured in publications including the New York Times, TimeOut New York, The Stage, The Scotsman and The Guardian.
I’m co-founder and co-producer of Roustabout Theatre. Since 2019, we have been making “silly, stirring and inspiring” theatre for children and families. Outreach and engagement are at the heart of our work, and I regularly facilitate workshops in schools, community settings and drama schools across the UK.
I’m a firm believer in the power of play. It’s where creativity starts, a way to collaborate, experiment and connect with other people. Most importantly, it’s fun. I have a particular passion for clowning – for its silliness, generosity and ability to find joy in the unexpected. I like making theatre where people can have fun, be surprised and enjoy themselves.
I’m available as a creative producer, performer, voice artist, workshop facilitator and grant writer. Over the past 10 years, I’ve secured more than £700K in public funding from Arts Council England and other local funders. I bring a healthy dose of creative thinking to grant writing, helping artists and organisations find the story, clarity and confidence behind their ideas. I also mentor self-producing artists, drawing on my own experience to help navigate the wonderfully chaotic business of making things happen.
